Mather Institute created the Innovative Research on Aging Awards to recognize applied research that offers important implications for the aging services industry and inspires next practices.

Get recognized and rewarded for your important research efforts

Entry Guidelines:

The call for entries is now open for the 2025 Innovative Research on Aging Awards! Researchers and authors who have published manuscripts between March 2024 and March 2025 are invited to apply. The research must be applicable to a relevant area, including:

  • aging in place
  • health and well-being of senior living residents
  • senior living workforce
  • technological advancements for older adults
  • underserved populations of older adults

Evaluation Criteria:

Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • quality of research
  • actionable research findings and recommendations
  • innovation

Monetary Awards:

To further encourage important research like this, we offer monetary awards. The 2025 Innovative Research on Aging gold award recipient will receive $2,000; up to four silver awards will each receive $1,000; and up to five bronze awards will each receive $500.*

*Please note that any money wiring fees will be deducted from honoraria for international recipients.
