#Winning: Commonly Played Board Games Have Become More Age-Inclusive

Do you ever get nostalgic about the board games you used to play as a kid? Do you ever have difficulty coming up with games to play with your friends and family that are easy to use and relatable? The gameboard company, Hasbro, has addressed your concerns by revamping three of their iconic games so that they are more age-inclusive: Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, and the Game of Life.

All three games have been meticulously modified with older adults in mind. For instance, Scrabble has been revised so that it now includes larger tiles that are easier to see. Additionally, while Trivial Pursuit still features the same six subject categories (geography, entertainment, history, art and literature, science and nature, and sports and leisure), questions within each category have been revamped to be more relevant to older adults. The Trivial Pursuit deck also includes blank cards so that older adults can write in questions to personalize their gaming experiences. Moreover, the Game of Life has been modified so that each generation is faced with their own unique life circumstances. On “pay day,” for example, Millennials must pay more money for bills because they might have college debt, while Baby Boomer players don’t have to pay anything because they most likely do not have college debt.

The latest versions of each game were created to encourage intergenerational play among families and friends. They also serve to combat loneliness by promoting social connection.

The new games should be available in June 2023. They will be sold at all major retailers, and may be featured in the health and wellness section of each store instead of the toy aisle.
